Retreading

New commercial vehicle tyres have a profile depth of ca 14 mm and a buffer of ca 4 mm. This buffer can be used to re-tread the tyre. This can increase the life of the tyre by ca 30 000 to 40 000 km. Re-treading is only allowed for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross weight.
